Join in prayer with other Christians across the country

As our nation faces the unprecedented challenge of the coronavirus pandemic, Churches Together in England (CTE) is encouraging Christians across our nations to continue uniting in prayer, praying #PrayersOfHope in their homes at 7pm each Sunday evening.

CTE has prepared a candle poster for those who would like to place a permanent symbol in their front windows of Christ’s light shining in the darkness.

Masses for The Sick, NHS workers and others

Every Thursday at 7pm, there will be a series of weekly Masses, for the sick and their families, all front-line workers in the NHS and those who work in social care. The Masses will be celebrated by a different bishop each week in his own cathedral and the celebrations will be live-streamed.

A prayer for the NHS

God of healing and compassion,

we thank you for the establishment of the National Health Service,

and for the dedication of all who work in it:

give skill, sympathy and resilience to all who care for the sick,

and your wisdom to those engaged in medical research.

Strengthen all in their vocation through your Spirit,

that through their work many will be restored to health and strength;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Pray for all those who care for others

Lord Jesus, who healed the sick and gave them new life,

be with all carers and health professionals,

as they act as agents of your healing touch.

In desperate times, keep them strong yet loving;

and when their work is done,

be with them in their weariness and in their tears.

Amen.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Memorial Service

https://youtu.be/L-QPj1yICgk

The hospital chaplains, along with Dr Karen Groves and Dr Dominic Bray have recorded a short service which some parishioners may find helpful.  The service is usually held in church each year, and all who have had a bereavement through the hospital are invited.  In 2020 this was not possible.

The service is aimed at all families who have suffered a bereavement particularly in the last 12 months.  It is acknowledged that there have been lots of bereavements that are not Covid related but families have been unable to grieve as they would have liked due to Covid.

Mass on the phone

For those who cannot get to church and have no internet connection,  you can still listen to the Mass in full on your phone. The Mass is provided free of charge, except for the local phone charge. It comes from Middlesborough Cathedral every Sunday. You phone this number: 01642 130 120 and you are connected to the Mass for that week. You can listen at any time of day or night
